Matt and I went down to the Annapolis boat yards today to check out his new turf and to play on some big boats. He has been working on some pretty sweet Beneteaus, and wanted me to come check them out. Although still a monohull skeptic, I must admit, these ladies were beautiful.

Even though nearly all of these boats yachts were well out of our price range, you cant blame us for taking advantage of the insiders tour.

There was one monohull that Matt had just finished working on that was pretty amazing. The owner had a flat screen TV, Playstation and Bose surround sound installed prior to having it delivered. In BVI. Maybe they have a Pimp My Yacht show down there.

We had some fun pretending the boat was ours. Here I am entertaining our guests in the large and spacious galley/saloon. I made cookies. They were delicious.

Matt tested out the master suite. That’s a pretty sweet Tempur-Pedic bed he’s lounging on.

So of course I had to try it out.

I can get used to waking up to this view every morning. Minus the rain/snow outside. Which is obviously not a problem in the BVI’s which is where this girl is headed.

We had a lot of fun playing house on this boat. I wonder what the owners would think if they knew. I’m sure they will never, ever, stumble along this blog, so I think we’re safe.
As for the interesting post title…. no, we were not gunkholing on the boat.
(Did any of you go there? No? Never mind!)
We saw this posted on a boat for sale in the yard:

…. and immediately had to google it when we got home.
Apparently gunkholing is right up our alley.
Gunkholing is a boating and sea kayaking term referring to a type of cruising in shallow or shoal water, meandering from place to place, spending the nights in coves. The term refers to the gunk, or mud, typical of the creeks, coves, marshes, sloughs, and rivers that are referred to as gunkholes. While not necessary, gunkholers typically seek out the serenity of isolated anchorages over the crowds of marinas and popular bays, and a minimal draft is preferred, since gunkholers tend to go as far up and into the gunkholes as possible, seeking ever more inaccessible destinations.
So there you go. Turns out were just a bunch of gunkholers. What did you do today?
