Overview

Its no surprise to the success Performance Catamarans had with their Gemini 105MC cruiser.  Incredibly fun to sail, the 105MC performs much better to windward than most catamarans due to the retractable centerboards that extend from 5'6" to just 18", enabling sailing to within 30 degrees of the apparent wind.  Performance aside, the interior volume rivals that of a 45' monohull (but with the coveted stability of a catamaran) with panoramic views and a smart 3 cabin / 1 head layout. With a beam of just 14', she can fit in any standard slip, be easily trucked across country, and hauled in a standard travel lift.
Gone Away is offered for sale by her Original Owners, who have lovingly cared for her since new! They have exclusively sailed her in the Chesapeake Bay, hauled her each winter, and have detailed maintenance records dating back to 2004!

  • Custom oversized bimini provides fantastic protection from weather
  • Just 823 hours on her 27hp Westerbeke diesel engine
  • Inerlux Micron Ablative bottom paint - November 2021
  • Dinghy davits with 10' dinghy and Torqeedo outboard
  • Maintenance records since new

Interior
The interior of the Gemini 105MC is spacious and well laid out for a 33' boat!  To duplicate the amount of interior volume, you'd be looking at a 45' monohull. Plenty of smartly designed storage in each area of the boat allows for uncluttered spaces and the peace of mind of having your belongings safely secured while underway.
Upon entering, the dinette is forward, with the refrigerator and microwave to starboard and a seating area to port. Both bulkhead windows to the companionway slide down, allowing for additional ventilation and communication to those in the cockpit.  To starboard is the galley, guest cabin to aft and the master cabin forward.  To port is the navigation station with additional storage, an additional guest cabin aft and forward is the head.

  • There is plenty of storage throughout, standing headroom in all throughways, and lots of natural light and ventilation. Average headroom is 6' in standing areas.
  • Teak and Holly laminate flooring throughout.
  • Panoramic views from the many ports, hatches and large fixed deck windows.
  • The dinette can seat six comfortably (eight in a pinch) with a folding teak table.  The table will convert to a queen berth if needed.
  • The aft cabins feature a double berth (48" wide), two hatches, a hanging locker and additional storage compartments.  Under each berth is a 30 gallon water tank and room for storage or additional equipment.
  • The master cabin has been completely reimagined compared to previous models to allow for more storage, easy access to the queen berth (5'4" x 6'6"), a headboard with shelf and a vanity with storage. The large panoramic deck windows allow in lots of light but also have shades for privacy. Froli Sleep System Springs under mattress in master cabin.
  • To port is the navigation station, which is a large and functional space with even more storage.  This is where the batteries are located as well.
  • The head features a separate standing shower with a door to keep clothes and towels dry.  There is a S/S sink, medicine cabinet, recessed TP holder, and more storage.  The manual toilet is freshwater plumbed and the 18 gallon holding tank can be pumped out on deck, or there is a gravity drain if necessary.
  • LED lighting, with custom additional lighting added - LED light over stove, LED reading light in salon, & LED reading light in master cabin.
  • 12V fans
  • Spanning over half of the starboard side, the galley is twice the size of previous models.
  • Open to the rest of the boat so no one is isolated from the rest of the activity onboard.
  • Generous counterspace storage both inboard and outboard with lots of storage allows for plenty of space to prep and store provisions.
  • Double sink with hot & cold pressure water with a manual foot pump, 2 burner propane stove with oven, front loading refrigerator and microwave, Formica countertops.
  • Refrigerator runs on propane or shore power.
Exterior
The deck of the Gemini 105MC has been designed to transform the cockpit into a more useable space for friends and family.
  • Custom, oversized bimini to keep the sun out and rain off, making the exterior more enjoyable in any type of weather. Made by Canvas Connection ? 4 Pieces in total.
  • Kato Marine Dinghy Davit aft with custom hammock to relax and enjoy the views at anchor.
  • West Marine 10' Dinghy ? Compact Rib 310 & Oars
  • Electric Outboard Torqeedo Travel 10003S & 2 Battery Chargers
  • Hardtop dodger for easy access to the boom, with 6'7" of headroom at the helm.
  • Removeable helm seat.
  • Well placed steps and hand rail supports promote safety when moving from the cockpit forward.
  • The side seats were raised and sloped for drainage with a step down in from for ease of reaching the winches.
  • The mainsheet support was made wider for use as a stern seat.
  • Cutouts in the aft coaming for easy access to the transom.
  • Great access to the engine under the center aft seating area. Propane locker with two tanks and access to the hydraulic Sillette drive leg to port; storage locker to starboard.
  • The offset wheel is slightly to starboard so that the boat can be steered from outside the pilothouse as well as in it.
  • Telescoping Swim Ladder.
Moving forward, the solid foredeck  provides a safe surface to walk on during rough weather or a relaxing area for lounging.  Two catbird seats to forward are the best seats in the house while underway, but fold up so they don't get in the way while docking.
  • Large self-draining sail locker and anchor locker as well.
  • The boat comes with two Fortress anchors (FX37 primary & FX23 spare).  The Larger anchor is currently rigged with 20' of chain and a 200' of rode.
  • Bridle Rigging.
  • Lifeline gates.
  • S/S handrails on cabin top.

Hulls and topsides were waxed and show well. However, like almost all Gemini's, she has developed gel coat cracks and crazing on areas of her deck and cockpit. They are cosmetic in nature.  The bottom was just painted in November 2021.
Construction
The molding of the Gemini 105 MC is superior to many of its competitors because the entire hull mold including the centerboard cases, the deck, and the entire interior are all molded as complete units. This eliminates any secondary bonding for a far stronger and structurally stiffer boat.  The hull is solid fiberglass, and the bridge deck is 1/2" end grain balsa.  The keel is reinforced with extra glass and wood as well as a series of bulkheads. The hull and deck are chemically bonded and thru bolted every 4".
The centerboards are the reason why the Gemini points so well to windward.  Their asymmetric shape lifts the boat with reduced drag - similar to modern day racing catamarans. The boards are molded with closed call foam which ensures they will last a lifetime.  Centerboards are operated from inside the boat and will easily kick up if the boat is grounded. The boards allow 5'6" draft when fully lowered and just 18" of draft when fully raised, making this an extremely versatile boat.
The rudders are mechanically joined through the steering system and will steer the boat in as little as 18" of water without putting any additional pressure on the wheel. Like the centerboards, the rudders are fiberglass molded with close cell foam and will also kick up if they hit bottom.Sails and Rigging
