Overview
Its no surprise to the success Performance Catamarans had with their Gemini 105MC cruiser. Incredibly fun to sail, the 105MC performs much better to windward than most catamarans due to the retractable centerboards that extend from 5'6" to just 18", enabling sailing to within 30 degrees of the apparent wind. Performance aside, the interior volume rivals that of a 45' monohull (but with the coveted stability of a catamaran) with panoramic views and a smart 3 cabin / 1 head layout. With a beam of just 14', she can fit in any standard slip, be easily trucked across country, and hauled in a standard travel lift.
Gone Away is offered for sale by her Original Owners, who have lovingly cared for her since new! They have exclusively sailed her in the Chesapeake Bay, hauled her each winter, and have detailed maintenance records dating back to 2004!

Interior
The interior of the Gemini 105MC is spacious and well laid out for a 33' boat! To duplicate the amount of interior volume, you'd be looking at a 45' monohull. Plenty of smartly designed storage in each area of the boat allows for uncluttered spaces and the peace of mind of having your belongings safely secured while underway.
Upon entering, the dinette is forward, with the refrigerator and microwave to starboard and a seating area to port. Both bulkhead windows to the companionway slide down, allowing for additional ventilation and communication to those in the cockpit. To starboard is the galley, guest cabin to aft and the master cabin forward. To port is the navigation station with additional storage, an additional guest cabin aft and forward is the head.
Exterior
The deck of the Gemini 105MC has been designed to transform the cockpit into a more useable space for friends and family.
Moving forward, the solid foredeck provides a safe surface to walk on during rough weather or a relaxing area for lounging. Two catbird seats to forward are the best seats in the house while underway, but fold up so they don't get in the way while docking.
Hulls and topsides were waxed and show well. However, like almost all Gemini's, she has developed gel coat cracks and crazing on areas of her deck and cockpit. They are cosmetic in nature. The bottom was just painted in November 2021.Construction
The molding of the Gemini 105 MC is superior to many of its competitors because the entire hull mold including the centerboard cases, the deck, and the entire interior are all molded as complete units. This eliminates any secondary bonding for a far stronger and structurally stiffer boat. The hull is solid fiberglass, and the bridge deck is 1/2" end grain balsa. The keel is reinforced with extra glass and wood as well as a series of bulkheads. The hull and deck are chemically bonded and thru bolted every 4".
The centerboards are the reason why the Gemini points so well to windward. Their asymmetric shape lifts the boat with reduced drag - similar to modern day racing catamarans. The boards are molded with closed call foam which ensures they will last a lifetime. Centerboards are operated from inside the boat and will easily kick up if the boat is grounded. The boards allow 5'6" draft when fully lowered and just 18" of draft when fully raised, making this an extremely versatile boat.
The rudders are mechanically joined through the steering system and will steer the boat in as little as 18" of water without putting any additional pressure on the wheel. Like the centerboards, the rudders are fiberglass molded with close cell foam and will also kick up if they hit bottom.Sails and Rigging
