Accommodations

As you descend the companionway steps and enter the living accommodations below, you'll first notice the beautiful teak joinery and the quality craftsmanship that is the signature style of Hylas yachts.

Forward is a comfortable guest cabin, complete with a full head in the bow and a Pullman-style double berth to port. In the main salon, a dining nook to port with a large circular dining table, and straight settee to starboard, which doubles as an additional berth if needed. Aft of the dinette to port is the navigation station. To starboard, is a large galley with lots of countertop space and storage, and is also a secure place to be while preparing a meal underway. Aft is a huge master stateroom with queen berth and good storage. The master head, which can also double as the day head, is situated to port. 

  • The entire interior of the boat is done in teak paneling and laminate.  Other than some slight water staining (common with a boat of this age), all of the interior joinery is in beautiful condition
  • All cushions and mattresses are in good condition. New foam (2020)
  • Ultraleather salon upholstery (2009)
  • All interior lighting upgraded to LED (2018)
  • Lee cloth/pad eyes on forward pullman berth, lee cloth for aft berth

Electrical System

Sweetwater has gone through an extensive refit (2018/2019) including major upgrades to its electrical system.  All AC & DC systems and circuits were installed by a certified ABYC electrician and are equipped with proper overcurrent protection and disconnects. The boats electrical systems meet and surpass current ABYC Standards. The upgrades include:

DC SYSTEM & COMPONENTS:   

  • New Ocean Planet Lithionics Lithium-ion Iron Phosphate batteries
  • 24-volt high-amp alternator 
  • New solar panels and solar panel regulators
  • New 24-volt 5000-watt Victron inverter 
  • New battery disconnects 
  • New breaker panels, with an additional sub-breaker panel in the aft cabin (2018/2019)
  • All DC lighting converted to LED 

The DC system is a 12/24 volt system consisting of 8 batteries divided into 5 banks. All batteries replaced in 2019 with the exception of the bow thruster batteries and the (2) 12V house batteries.  

  • A 24V bow thruster bank with (2) AGM group 31 batteries, charged by a Sterling Power 40-amp DC to DC charger from the 24V house bank (2019)
  • A 24V house bank consists of (2) lithium iron batteries, charged via a 180-amp 24V alternator on the main engine.  They are also charged by the Victron inverter that has a 200-amp multi-stage charger
  • A 12V house bank with (2) AGM batteries, charged a Sterling Power 60-amp DC to DC charger off of the 24V house bank (2019)
  • A generator battery consisting on 1 Group 24 AGM battery, charged via the generator and has an emergency parallel switch to the engine battery
  • An engine bank with 1 group 27 AGM battery, charged by a voltage sensitive relay connected to the house 12V bank
  • House batteries are additionally charged by 4 solar panels located on the dodger and on the davits at the stern of the boat.  750W total solar with MPPT controller (2019)
  • New Pico battery monitoring system that individually monitors the amp draw on all battery banks (with the exception of the genset battery), as well as the amp draw from the refrigerator and watermaker (2019)

AC SYSTEM & COMPONENTS:   

  • The AC system consists of a 250V / 50-amp inlet brought into a 5000 watt Victron inverter. The inverter is also the transfer switch for the shore power/generator and the inverter itself
  • All AC circuits, including the air conditioning, are run through the inverter with the exception of 1 outlet and the water heater
  • The inverter has a built in soft start that will allow it to use the DC house batteries to start heavy AC loads for the generator or shore power
  • The AC system was upgraded from a 125V / 50 amp service to a 250V / 50 amp service and the majority of the wire for the AC system was replaced (2018)
  • 125V outlets were upgraded to include USB ports (2018)
  • Galvanic protection and additional overcurrent protection added at the shore power inlet (2018)
  • 50amp shorepower system w/ 30 amp adapter cords
  • Prewired for a windvane

ENGINE:

  • The engine, its plumbing and it's systems were new in 2018 and have had very few hours put on them.

  • (2) Stainless Steel fresh water tanks under the floor of the salon; one is a 39 gallon tank, the other is a 132 gallon tank, totaling 171 gallons of freshwater.
  • There is an additional 39 gallon water tank under the salon floor to starboard that is not in use.

  • New Jabsco freshwater pumps (2018)
  • Freshwater foot pump in galley (2018)
  • A good portion of the freshwater plumbing was replaced in 2022 using PEX tubing
